There were constant problems coming up with the progress rates when upgrading through Kies too. Complaints also arose as after some firmware was upgraded, it showed that the connection with Samsung Kies was abnormal, and Kies did not support such a device, not even by repeating uninstalling and reinstalling it several times. Additionally, it did not work in a smooth manner, which is a waste of time and makes users impatient.
Some users said, a matter of fact, Kies was not as useful as it was publicized, and there were simply a few functions rather than multiple ones. Only when they installed Net Framework 4.0 as well could they solve the problem, which was exceedingly troublesome. Plenty of people pointed out that when they downloaded software with Kies, they could not open the software, and there appeared "Application failed to initialize properly". However, does this Samsung tool work so well in reality? I have seen quite some negative feedbacks and fierce criticism drawn from users on Kies via the Internet.
There is also the independent built-in Marketplace, on which users can sync software to their mobile phones after downloading directly through Kies without the necessity to login Marketplace. Apart from these, it supports easy operation of backing up or transferring data, and managing multimedia files.
